I met this fabulous young lady along with her fabulous young friend a few months ago at a school visit.

Her name is Siera and she made me laugh even before we met (through email). She and Brittney (the fabulous friend mentioned above) were my assistants? during the visit and made the whole day worth it. We had so much fun and they are seriously two people you would love to hang out with. Siera is smart, insightful, kind and like I mentioned before, hilarious. And I knew all this from just spending a few hours with her (and her emails helped a lot). She is going to talk first and then next week (cross fingers) Brittney will be up. Enjoy!

Hi Siera.
Hi.

Thank you for doing this.
Of course.

Okay, let's get started.

A. Please remind us, what is your name and why is it your name?

My name is Siera because my mom was going to name me Tierra but then she figured out that that meant dirt in Spanish - and I don't know about you but that sounds just a LITTLE degrading to me.

B. Ha. Interesting. I thought Tierra meant earth. I think both names are beautiful but Siera suits you. Now for an important question. What's your favorite kind of cheese?
Ooh I know, that one kind made with milk! I love that stuff!

C. Nice. Okay, let's get a little harder. What is the first book you ever read?
Hm ... I believe it's called Alice and Gretel. It's about two witches and I still read it regularly. It's very nearly the best book EVER!!! (Or
picture book.)

D. You read it regularly but you're not sure of the name? A little fishy. But I'll let you pass. So, do you like to read? What kind of books?
Ha ha ha - YES, YES, and YEEEEEEEEES!!! Really any kind - the kind without pointless/nasty humor ... if I like it then I read it.

E. What is your favorite book?

The Harry Potter series automatically claims that title; the seventh is my
very favorite.

F. Yeah, that seems to be a popular favorite. So, have you ever been in a helicopter?

Oh yes, of course! There's one attached to the top of the Childrens' Museum. Oh wait, you mean one that was in the air!! Um ... no. Not really.

G. Not really? Hmm. Moving on

H. What stuff have you been working on (as in novels, stories, art,
karate, etc.)

Ha ha ha, no karate. But currently I'm writing several books, I draw a lot (not well I might add.), and I'm always tending kids. That part's my
favorite.

I. So, how do you feel about starting high school next year?
No positive comment.

J. Well junior high is hard. In fact, what is the worst thing that has ever happened to you in junior high?
Um ... the change. When I say that I mean the drama, all of your friends becoming totally different people - and trying your hardest not to get
caught up in all the gossip and the pressure and yet still knowing you're probably failing miserably.

K. Yeah. I remember well. So you and Brittney, where did you guys meet and name one mishap that has happened as a result of your friendship.
We met in Language Arts, but we weren't really friends until the period after that, Journalism. Let's see ... I'll be honest there have been TONS
of mishaps as a result of this ... ha ha ha we're pretty much just accidentally lethal. Anyway, could I just group a bunch of them together?
Because if so I'd have to say all of the trippings. Seriously, we can't walk from one end of the school to the other without falling, slamming
into something/someone, slipping, crashing, etc. It's quite funny.

L. Do you like avocados?

Absolutely not!! And did you know that they're considered actual fruits? I mean, how disgusting! They are way too nasty to be placed in that
category. You might be in wonderment of that - I mean, I am Mexican, but I prefer sticking to fruit more like mangos and guavas ... just NO avocados.

M. No avodadoes! You're crazy. So, Are you mad because I haven't sent you your books yet? I will. I promise.
No, not mad, just really really really excited to read them!!

N. Is this a long interview? Okay. Sorry. You don't have to answer all of the questions.

Ha ha ha, if you haven't noticed, I like talking quite a bit. I don't mind, and don't mid finishing this one bit.

O. What do you want to tell everyone about reading?

It's positively absolutely one of the greatest things you can ever do in this life. Not only is it incredibly satisfying and exciting and so
crazily awesome, but it makes you smarter. It really does. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

P. What do you want to tell everyone about long summer days?

They're hard, but you can get through it with a book, a pencil and notebook, or a baby. Or someone funny to hang out with.

Q. What is your favorite music?

Disney and Veggie Tales and Barbie. Then I like a bunch of the artists that play on 97.9 ... they repeat a lot, so that should pretty much sum it
up. I don't like Rap, Hard rock, or most country.

R. What is your favorite food?

It depends on where I am, what time it is, and what mood I am.

S. What is the worst food ever?

I'm not sure if there is a worst food ever. But seriously, I haven't exactly tasted it, but you know those deep fried macaroni and cheese
squares? That seriously makes me gag. Why on Earth would you put that in your mouth??

T. I have never even heard of deep friend macaroni. I'm sad to say I think I might like them. So, I think that is all but I also think I should keep writing questions so
that I can get to Z.

Good idea. I mean, if you stopped now it would be so sad because ... I mean you were just so close!

U. What is better Sprite or 7UP?

Root Beer, definitely :)

V. Have you ever read a book that you couldn't stop thinking about?

YES!!! Every single book I think about for hours and sometimes days afterward - like I can't even start a new book because I have to ponder
through everything that happened. But one series that I am still always thinking about (and anyone who spends the least amount of time with me will testify to this) is the Harry Potter series. Ever since I started reading it in second grade, I have been so completely wrapped up in it ...
it's pathetic, really.

W. That is not pathetic. That's the sign of a good book AND a good reader. Books that make you think and readers who are willing to think, well, that's a great combination. So, What are you going to be when you grow up?
No matter what people say to me, I will be an ... wait for it ... an Elementary School teacher!! Yay, and I'll also never stop writing ... if
someone (whether it be a kid's newspaper or a publishing company) were ever to be interested in something I wrote, I would love to be an author.

X.Awesome. I know you will do it.  I am tired. Are you?
Nope, not really.

Y. What is a demolition derby and do you attend?
It's an awesome collaboration of mud, trucks, crashing, and little cars. I would love to attend if I had any idea how to get a ticket, but for now
i'm fine watching it on TV.

Z. Why is Z so awesome?
I have no idea, it just is! But if you think about it, a Zebra is one of the coolest animals ever. I mean, don't those stripes look just too
awesome to be just plain stripes? Of course the name starts with Z!

Okay, thanks Siera. You are hilarious and I'm so glad you were assigned to help me figure out your school. I needed the help. And if anyone has any questions for Siera, feel free to leave a comment. She knows a lot a lot a lot about a lot a lot a lot of things so ask away. Next week : Brittney. Get ready!
